CENTRAL BUS STATION, RIO MAIOR
The Central Bus Station of Rio Maior city stands out in a set of proposed interventions in the context of transport’s infrastructure listed in Summary Report of the Municipal Plan and the Strategic Plan of the city. The building is characterized as a white concrete blade with high plastic intensity, which is folded over itself, defining the building pavement and ceiling. The transparency of this infrastructural facility, reveals in its interior a box coated by wood panels, which organizes the program of building (ticket office, control of central, waiting atrium…). The building is a kind of platform around which buses circulate, parking in lanes that cross the outer roof. City in motion is reflected in The Central Bus Station glass, at the same time, through the interior is possible to look the green and sportive areas that exists in the core of Rio Maior. Nevertheless its formal boldness, the building is delicate and sober, assuming its role as a receiving hall for the city, dialoguing with the Mário Soares Avenue as well as with the old briquettes factory of Espadanal Mine, marked by its slender chimney that rips the pine that surrounds the city. |
